How To Ensure Your Tree Stays Healthy

If you have just planted a new tree, then you get to wait to enjoy its beauty and shade for hopefully the rest of your life. But, just like anything, you need to make sure that you know how to take care of your tree so that it lasts longer. If you have never taken care of a tree, then you may not know where to start. Luckily, this article will give you a few tips. Read on to learn more.

Have It Pruned

If you live in a windy part of the country, then you need to make tree pruning a priority. Why? During a lot of winter storms or wind storms, the branches on your tree can fall off or the tree can even crack in certain places if it's too top heavy. Not only can falling branches cause damage to things like cars and power lines, but they can also damage the tree as well. When you have your tree professionally pruned by a tree pruning company every year or so, they will ensure that your tree isn't overgrown so that this type of damage doesn't happen during a storm.

Have It Fertilized

Depending on the part of the country that you live in, the soil where your tree was planted may or may not have nutrients in it. If the soil doesn't have nutrients in it, then you will need to make fertilizing your tree and the soil around your tree on a regular basis. But how? You have several options, you can use fertilizer stakes which you hammer into your soil or you can use traditional fertilizer that you pour onto it and then water afterward.

Water It

The easiest thing that you can do when you have a new or old tree is make sure that it's getting enough water every day. If you have a drip system installed so that it waters your tree, then make sure the timer on your sprinkler is on for long enough so it gets enough water. If you don't have a drip system, then make sure that you are watering your tree every day; especially if it's brand new.

These are just a few ways that you can keep your tree lasting longer so that you can see it boom from the beginning to the end. If you want to learn more, contact a tree pruning company such as Silver Leaf Tree Service.
